Diademed and helmeted three-quarter facing bust, holding spear over right shoulder and shield with horseman motif on left arm. Rev. VIRT EXERC ROM. Helmeted warrior advancing right, head left, suppressing captive and carrying trophy, star to right; in exergue, CONOB. RIC X 284; Depeyrot 83/1. AV. 4.28 g. 20.00 mm. R. Scarce type. Arcadius (383-408). AV Solidus, Constantinople mint, 397- 402 AD. Obv. D N ARCADI-VS P F AVG. Helmeted, diademed and cuirassed bust facing, holding spear and shield, ornamented with a horseman spearing a fallen foe. Rev. CONCORDI-A AVGG H. Constantinopolis seated facing on throne, head right, foot on a prow, wearing helmet, holding spear and, Victory on globe. RIC X 7; Depeyrot 55/1. AV. 4.49 g. 21.50 mm. Brilliant and superbe example.
