On the obverse: O QUA SOL HABITABILES ILLUSTRAT ORAS MAXIME PRINCIPUM (You are the master of all great princes, wherever the sun shines - (Horatius: Odes, 4th Book, 14th Ode)), bust of Joseph I in Hungarian dress, surrounded by a wreath of olive branches and laurel. On the ribbon: IOSE - PHUS I D - G HUNGA -RIAE REX - ARCHI - DUX AUS -TRIAE (Joseph I, by the grace of God, King of Hungary, Archduke of Austria).​

On the reverse: POTENS IN TERRA ERIT SEMEN EIUS GENERATIO RECTORUM BENEDICETUR (His seed will be a hero on earth, the generation of the faithful will be blessed - (Book of Psalms 112:2)). Bust of Leopold I in a circle of pearls, around him it is written: IUSTITIA EIUS MANET (His justice lives on).
